Celebrating Five Years of Your Magazine

You can achieve a lot in five years. You could build the world’s tallest tower (Dubai’s Burj Khalifa) or you could write half a Pulitzer Prize-winning book (Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao). You can also grow a lot in five years. If age were measured strictly by change, Your Mag would be decades old. Having been a part of this magazine for three years, I’ve witnessed immense transformations in our ideas and our identity. To remember our achievements and celebrate our anniversary, we present the From The Archives series; starting today, we will share with you glimpses of Your Magazine’s past and its metamorphosis.

Unfortunately, with change also comes goodbyes. Haley, Chelsea, Maddie, Karen–our creative director, editor at large, and digital editors respectively–you will be terribly missed. It has been a privilege to work with the incredible individuals behind this magazine and I am humbled and excited to follow Peyton Dix as editor-in-chief next semester. Peyton, your energy and eloquence are irreplaceable–you leave tremendous (and painfully stylish) shoes to fill. Matt, our remarkable managing editor and my personal hero, your dedication and unwavering support has been the lifeline of this publication. I hope that we’ll make all of you proud. The upcoming April/May issue, a conglomeration of honest, cerebral and nuanced work, could not have existed without our talented staff and the ones preceding ours. Join us as we look back on the past five years and count down towards the release of our first double issue.
