“While femininity is something that can be personal and something you can feel attached to, I think in some ways, the societal expectations of what femininity should be in media often become something distant from our actual selves and more of a dance we must learn and perform. The lamps and lights on the models’ heads symbolize that detachment and how this performance is something we have to ‘turn on.’”
