British People Have Sex, Too

NOTE: I’m currently reading the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi but I refuse to write a blog post on it until I’ve finished Ignite Me. So this week, I took a 24-hour breather and tore through Untether. Enjoy!

Oh, how I love Elodie Hart’s effortlessly sexy Alchemy series– specifically, all the reformed playboys dominated by smart, powerful women. This week, I read Untether, the fourth book in the interconnected Alchemy series, focused on Cal and Aida.

Aida Russell is a United Kingdom transplant from the United States, who’s recently been through a very messy, very public divorce with Lord John Russell. 

I think Britain is so funny– what in the world is the Monarchy and how the hell is it structured? I just think the Kate Middleton conspiracies have been getting to me– but I digress.

As a celebrity news anchor and renowned journalist, Aida sets her sights on a new documentary series, titled Searching for Paradise, focused on reclaiming her sexuality as a 46-year-old woman. She decides to apply for the Unfurl program at Alchemy, the elite sex club that Cal ¼ owns. She’s assigned Cal as her mentor and the two instantly hit it off. Sexually, that is. They have no problems in the attractiveness department. In the communication department, however? That’s a different story.

Callum (last name unknown) is the super single bachelor of Alchemy’s executive team. All of his “mates” (part 2 of British people saying funny things) are either engaged or set to be engaged to their partners and he’s the only one left standing. That’s until he meets the “sexy AF” ( his words not mine) Aida Russell. He’s used to finding different women to fuck every night and it’s easy considering he owns a literal sex club. But ever since he sets his sights on Aida, he’s transformed into a monogamous, head-over-heels puppy dog. 

But it’s complicated. Especially because 1) Aida is ten years older than him, 2) Aida is divorced and a mother, and 3) Cal isn’t used to steady relationships so Aida has no reason to trust he won’t get bored. Plus, while they’re extremely sexually compatible, Aida isn’t used to kinky, and I mean kinky, sex. Her ex sucked (relateable, lol) and wanted her to become something she wasn’t. Instead of dominating her in bed, he wanted her to become a Dominatrix, fitted with whips, cuffs, and other crazy tools that Aida had no desire to use. 

Safe to say, Cal’s much more dominating personality is a good fit for her.

If you’re looking for a fast, sweet, and sexy read, Untether is perfect. In the wake of finals season and the million essays, I’m being forced to write, this fast-paced romance was delicious and perfect. On the “Enemies to Readers” Sex-o-Meter this book gets a steamy 4.5/5. Lots of smut for you, reader (don’t pretend you don’t like it).

I hate finals but I love me some smut.
