Find The Perfect Pieces For Your Halloween Costume

Photo via centersandsquares.com It’s Emerson's favorite time of the year: Halloween. If you want to look fabulous, stay within budget, and rock a unique, kick-ass costume, we are here to expose your go-to places to find exactly what you’re looking for. By now, you probably have an idea of what you want to dress up as, and even if you’ve got no clue, check out these spots for some inspiration.

The Garment District This place is ideal if you want to build your own costume from scratch. If you are looking for the perfect pieces, colors, and textures that suit your own personal taste, The Garment District is the right place for you. Plus, it is inexpensive and the variety is endless. The 20-minute T ride to Cambridge is definitely worth the personalized costume you’ll rock on that Halloween party.

The Emerson Costume Shop Stock Sale Every two years, Emerson's Costume Shop does a huge purge of its costumes to make room for new ones. The result is the Costume Shop Stock Sale, which offers a boatload of cool dresses, pants, shirts, coats, blazers, scarves, shoes, hats, and more. The costume stock contains clothes from all over, meaning there will most definitely be vintage and brand name clothing. There will also be wacky pieces like medieval gowns and crazy robes... so it's the perfect spot for costume assembling. Aside from the heftier overcoats and blazers, most of the items will be five dollars or less. Stop by the Multipurpose Room in P-Row on Saturday, October 25 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for cool costumes and crazy deals.

Party City We know it’s cliché, but you can always mix-and-match! By this we mean that you don’t have to go into Party City and buy that un-original costume that your friend wore two years ago. You can always buy some cool accessories and wear them with some of your own clothes or stuff you find at The Garment District, H&M, etc. Plus, Party City is pretty close to campus, which makes it convenient if you’re running out of time.

New Millennium Costumes Again, if you’re running out of time and need to find a costume fast, this place is your best bet. Located right on Tremont St. this place has most of those last-minute things you need to put your costume together. It is not ideal if you’re looking for a full-on costume, but you can find small accessories to touch-up your final look. If you’re looking for a wig, a mask, some stockings, or even make-up, this place is fantastic.

Dorothy’s Boutique Also located in Cambridge, this place is the best if you’ve got time to put together the most original, never-seen-before, Halloween costume. Dorothy’s Boutique literally has everything you need to look fantastic at any costume party. From shoes, to different types of wigs, to original costumes, this place is amazing! If you’re looking to buy that one article of clothing that will make your costume stand out from the rest, this is where you should go.
